On a beautiful crisp December Morning, Carlie and Marco ventured into the scenic North Carolina Arboretum to read their written vows privately to each other. Seeing each other for the first time in their wedding attire, they shed tears of joy, knowing that it was the start of their forever. It had been two excrutiatingly long years of having to travel over 2,000 miles to see each other. The pure bliss was visible on their faces all day, as they realized that they would be able to arrive "home", and it would now be the same residence as the love of their life.

The NC State JC Raulston Arboretum is truly picture perfect for any photo session or wedding. I love the variety of the gardens and the privacy you can achieve by a little bit of pre-planning (for those who don't love PDA). The gardens serve as a stunning, editorial, lush backdrop for all seasons.
The shade that the foilage naturally provides also allows for flexibility in scheduling, which is amazing for a family session or, in this case, a tight wedding day timeline with a couple who wanted to maximize the time they spent together!

Is there a permit fee for JC Raulston Engagement Photos?
Our session at JC Raulston Arboretum does not require a permit so long as no furniture is being set-up!
This is one of the many reasons why I love this location for Engagement Photos!!
What happens if it rains during my session or wedding?
On wedding days, I highly reccomend renting a tent in their grand lawn for your dance floor and reception. This will comfortably hold larger guest counts and protect from rain or the sun! There are also indoor spaces like the York Auditorium with gorgeous terraces and floor to ceiling windows, if family formals need to be moved indoors on your wedding day.
As for other sessions, like engagements or family photos, it's up to you! I am happy to reschedule because your comfort during your session is extremely important to me.
What is the best time of day for photos?
In the springtime and summertime, I reccomend weekday sessions to avoid the crowds that the finley-nottingham rose gardens bring in. The best time of day will be either early morning or just before sunset (7:30 AM - 10:00 AM or 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM).
In Autumn or Winter, I recommend mid-morning and the late-afternoon. (9:00 AM -11:00 AM or 2:30PM - 4:45 PM) The foilage blocks out the harsh light while the sun is out so we can still be warm and comfortable!
